“I think Early Access for our game is the best thing that could ever happen.”

IGN can exclusively reveal that Hunt: Showdown – Crytek’s unique monster-hunting survival-shooter – will have an Early Access release on Steam.

“You want to create an experience that goes from the game into the player,” says Creative Director Magnus Larbrant. “These guys are really into your world and they’re having fun right? And that’s what I want, too. I think Early Access for our game is the best thing that could ever happen.”

It’s clear from watching the Developer Diary up above that the team sees the game as an open-ended, collaborative project between the development team based in Frankfurt and its future players.

“We really have to engage the players, man,” continues Larbrant. “I’m completely open-minded. I know the designers are open-minded… Not over-promise things. Just tell this is where we are and this is where we’re going to get to.”

The sentiment is echoed by Level Design Director Chris Auty, “People will play the game and give us this feedback. and they can look at the experiences they had, actually tell us about it, and being able to do something about it is the coolest part for me of Early Access.”

While visiting Crytek Frankfurt where the game is being developed, the development team spoke about how they’ll actively listen to player feedback and allocate future resource into the areas players most respond to.

“We will be adding more gear, more monsters, more Hunters, more game modes, more traits, crafting, and further map variations throughout Early Access,” promises Larbrant. “We want to take the time to make Hunt the game we’ve always wanted to play.”
